As stated in the previous post, things have been pretty busy around here. Lots of Christmas crafting has been happening and hopefully it will all be finished on time. There are at least three more gifts to make as well as baking and cooking to accomplish. I hesitate to put a list up because it will change due to time constraints and I don’t want to be disappointed when something has to be left undone.
The last two days of this week I will be gone from home more than usual because both DD and DS have finals, though not at the same location or times. DD has two finals in Calculus and one in Health (both for college classes) and DS as a freshman in high school has five finals, one each in Physical Science, US History (Junior level course), Chinese I, Geometry, and Honors Literary Analysis & Composition Year 2. DD also has work on Thursday afternoon and DS has his Pathfinder’s Club Christmas party Thursday evening. The entire club is having a night of skating and/or rollerblading at the local skating rink. It will be two hours of fun, in between two mornings of finals. They will be very busy but then they are done and Christmas break will begin.
DD still has three gifts to purchase and all her gifts to wrap and she will be done. She is also waiting for one more package to arrive with two gifts in it that she purchased online for her younger cousin. I will need to take DS shopping so he can get all his Christmas gifts. DH and I have to go this weekend and purchase the last few gifts that aren’t handmade. We have learned that some people do not want or appreciate handmade gifts no matter how much thought or love and effort is placed in making them. This means that shopping for them can be challenging as most of them buy whatever they want when they want it so you don’t really know what to get them. Gift cards seem to be the best bet. I don’t like to purchase gift cards too much unless they are very specific or for a specific store that the person wants to frequent, because they seem to take very little thought and effort and seem impersonal.
Now that I was able to bake two loaves of sourdough bread today for this week, I can concentrate on cooking and baking for Christmas and finishing up last projects. Here’s wishing everyone the best of luck as they finish preparing for Christmas and time with family. May we all finish on time and enjoy time with our families!
